Who are we ? Ecoprovence is a place where people with good ideas and potential projects can meet and we welcome individuals, groups and associations (volunteers, families, specialists, etc). We explore issues and exchange information and experiences, at the same time taking pleasure in the organic produce grown on our own land where together we cultivate, harvest and process our crops. We construct with biological building materials. If little children want to go out on their own tour of discovery, we make sure they are accompanied. |
The international network Workaway ▶www.workaway.info played a crucial role in the first three years when the eco-guest house and a small, historical farm worker’s cottage were renovated, the vegetable garden was laid out and work was done to restore the olive trees. A total of around 100 volunteers came for 2 - 4 weeks to help with the many and varied tasks. Thanks to their efforts not only was the guest house renovated on the inside and painted on the outside but also a shed for three sheep and five hens was built. The German-French Youth Office - Deutsch-Französische Jugendwerk ▶www.dfjw.org acts as a financing partner to enable German and French young people to meet at Ecoprovence. Peter Brown, ourThe founders of Ecoprovence
After much careful consideration, Ecoprovence was created by Kai Kreuzer and Gudrun Huber. He gained experience of growing vegetables in his own garden and of ecological house renovation and he worked for many years as a journalist reporting on all things organic and environmental across the whole of Europe. All this inspired him to find a new purpose for the plot of land and house that his parents, Klaus and Eva Kreuzer, put at his disposal. Again with the support of his parents, Kai and Gudrun bought and renovated the neighbouring house in order to convert it into a venue for organic gardening, healthy nutrition and the use of solar energy.

A good fitting together
It all began with a network of friendships and expertise found in abundance in the local environmental group DEMAIN en Pays de Fayence.

This group has proved to be a great source of new project ideas and they help to prepare joint discussions, conferences and actions (see also The Concept of Ecoprovence).

Personal background
Ecoprovence is getting a big support from Kai’s parents Klaus and Eva Kreuzer, whom should be thanked explicitly in this context. They are following the project with lots of personal interest and are providing proposals for improvements. Important for them is the international aspect of integrating young volunteers from throughout the world. The exchange of experiences and knowledge, the flow of information as well as the motivation on the European and international level is also very important for them.
