In earlier centuries when people usually heated only one room the amount of heat needed was much lower. Now, with the huge expansion of populations, even this renewable resource has to be used as economically as possible. Nevertheless, it is of course a wonderful experience in winter to sit in front of a wood-burning stove and enjoy the heat and see the flames through the glass door. An attraction for big and small.
For heating the main house and the guest house we use well-dried pine and oak. We have more than enough wood on site and all we have to do is collect it with a wheelbarrow. If we’ve got too much we give it away. The result of the insulation work we have carried out is a reduction to roughly a third of the heat required in the main house.
